In the early-'60s, Reyn McCullough was attracted to Alfred Shaheen's fine cotton fabrics and authentic South Seas designs and approached Shaheen about the possibility of obtaining a select grouping of these exotic works of art for use within his Reyn Spooner, Hawaiian Traditionals, men's sportswear collection. Impressed by the high standards of quality McCullough demanded in his product, his integrity, and their mutual business philosophy, Shaheen made a rare exception in allowing another Hawaiian manufacturer to interpret his exclusive designs to wearable art. Thus, the beginning of a relationship that has endured for years.
